Fort Worth continues to be at the forefront of Texas video production and the Texas film community as a whole. Back in late 2015, the City officially approved the Fort Worth Film Commission and this summer, the City announced another big achievement: the approval of the Media Production Development Zone (MPDZ).
The MPDZ is a project we’ve been working with the City to develop for a few years and is something we are passionate about. Practically speaking, the zone establishes a two-year sales and use tax exemption for the construction, maintenance, expansion, improvement or renovation of any media production facility in the Near Southside district located just south of downtown Fort Worth. The City’s approval of the MPDZ is impactful for two reasons: it further solidifies Fort Worth’s progress as a leader in Texas film and media industry (the MPDZ will be one of two in Texas second only to Austin) and secondarily, it will open the financial doors for production studios to build in Fort Worth. Once the state gives a final approval for the MPDZ, media production companies from all over the state and country will benefit from investing in Fort Worth.
We’re Moving!!
The zone is of particular importance to us because it will be our new home later this year. When we first started this company in 2005, we were a small, hungry production company working out of TECH Fort Worth Incubator. That space allowed us to learn and develop and eventually, we moved into our first brick & mortar in the heart of the West 7th District.
Our new offices will be located in a refurbished old warehouse now called Main+Broad in the South Main Village neighborhood, and will house our internal operations to meet our growing demands. The space will also have expanded co-working areas which offer a communal, collaborative work environment. Work space rentals will be available, along with our studio and other gear needed for creative businesses or special events.
From our earliest days, Red Productions has believed in investing in the creative community here in Fort Worth, and we are proud that Fort Worth continues to prove its commitment to small businesses and the community as a whole. We are honored to have been able to call Fort Worth home for over 13 years now, and we look forward to the many more years to come.
