Meet the Team: Sam Parnell

  • What is your name and job title?
    • Sam Parnell – Senior Editor / Head of Post Production

  • Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Fort Worth?
    • Grew up in Oklahoma, moved to North Texas in 2000. Went to school at TCU, loved Fort Worth so I stayed put.

  • Tell us a little bit about your family…
    • Married to Meredith Parnell in 2011, met her while we were both at TCU. We have one daughter, Stella, who is two years old. She’s super adorable and pretty much just the best. All our immediate family is in DFW area which is nice.

  • What is something that scares you?
    • How much college tuition will be in 16 years.

  • How did you end up at Red Productions? and How long have you been working here for?
    • Met Red when we were both still at TCU. I told him I also like doing video stuff. Started videoing some events with him, and eventually he let me know the guy who usually edits for him dropped out of a project, asked if I wanted to edit it. I did. And I still am. But not that exact project, that was hundreds of projects ago.
    • I’ve been with Red Productions for almost 13 years – since May 2007

  • What do you love to do outside of work? Any hobbies?
    • I used to play kickball until I tore both my ACLs doing so. I love watching movies. I enjoy knowing random movie facts that nobody else would care about. Meredith and I love playing board games. We are super competitive. We don’t like the co-op games, because we want to BEAT the other one. We love going to our family’s cabin in Durango in the summer and the winter. I like collecting limited edition screen prints of movie poster (such as ones from Mondo), which can be seen in my editorium.

  • What are some fun/interesting/weird facts about you or your life?
    • Meredith and I are very good at winning contests. Best thing she has won: a cruise (won while playing bingo ON a cruise). I won a “football fantasy” twitter contest that put Dan Bailey (kicker), Chris Jones (punter) and 2 other Dallas Cowboys on my kickball team. We won. I have edited three feature films. I can link any two actors together via movies / other actors. I was a two-time intramural champion of poker at TCU. Scott is so obsessed with me that he decided to build a house in my same neighborhood a week after I decided to. When I was little I wanted to grow up to be a cartoonist. If I am not doing at least 2-3 things at once I feel like I am not doing anything.
